Store description excerpt
PhotoWise is a camera a child can teach. Point it at something and it will tell you what it sees. When it gets it wrong — or has never met the thing before — you show it a couple of examples, give it a name, and from then on it knows. Nothing is trained in a factory somewhere: it learns from your kitchen table, your dog, your Lego, on your device, in seconds. The camera stays off until an activity is chosen, and there are five to choose from. SPOT IT Names what's in front of the lens, and learns whatever it doesn't know. Teach it "my bike" and it will pick your bike out from then on. FRAME IT The part of photography that usually only gets taught by someone standing next to you. Choose a guide — rule of thirds, the golden spiral, triangles, dead centre — and chase a score out of 100 as you move the camera. It tells you what would make the shot better, not just what's wrong with it. COLOURS Breaks any picture down into the colours it is actually made of, as percentages. Then lets you swap one whole colour group for another and watch the picture change. MIRROR Reflects one half of a face onto the other and builds a perfectly symmetrical one. Nobody is symmetrical, and finding that out is very funny. FILTERS Nine looks — sunny, comic, old movie, crystal, heat and more — that can be tried on the whole picture, on half of it at a time, or through a magic lens you drag around. SHOW OFF The screen for handing the phone to somebody else. Everything that's been taught sits along the bottom and lights up as it's recognised, so the training itself is what's on display. Challenge mode asks for one thing at a time and keeps score. BUILT FOR CHILDREN • No network code at all — it cannot send anything anywhere, because there is nothing in it that can • No accounts, no sign-in, no adverts, no in-app purchases, no analytics • Photos are saved in the app's own space, not your camera roll — "Add to Photos" is the single, deliberate way a picture leaves • "What I Know" shows everything that has been taught and lets a child or a parent delete any of it • Eleven languages, switched from the home screen: English, German, Spanish, French, Croatian, Hungarian, Italian, Polish, Portuguese, Slovak and Slovenian • Full VoiceOver labelling, Dynamic Type and Reduce Motion support Aimed at 8-12 year olds, and rather harder to put down than that suggests.
