Store description excerpt
Most running apps assume you can already run. This one doesn't. If a brisk half-hour walk isn't comfortable yet, you start with four weeks of walking — no running at all — until your feet, ankles and knees are used to turning up. If you're ready, you go straight into the running, and it opens with thirty-second jogs. Genuinely thirty seconds. Eleven weeks of running, three sessions a week, finishing with a straight thirty minutes. IT TELLS YOU WHEN TO RUN Put the phone in your pocket and forget about it. A voice tells you when to jog and when to walk back down, so you never have to look at the screen. It keeps working with the phone locked, and it dips your music for each cue rather than talking over it or stopping it. NO ACCOUNT, NOTHING COLLECTED There is no sign-up, no email, no analytics and no tracking. Your plan and your history are stored on your phone and go nowhere. There is nothing to log into and nothing to leak. REST IS PART OF IT Leave a day between runs. That gap is when your legs actually get stronger — the training happens in the recovery, not the session. Running on tired legs is the most common reason beginners stop, so the app tells you to rest rather than nagging you to go again. REPEAT ANY WEEK Not ready to move on? Repeat the week. There is a check-in at the end of each one that asks how it went and adjusts what it suggests next. Nothing here is a streak you can break. HONEST ABOUT WEIGHT Running makes you fitter and it is genuinely good for you. It also burns fewer calories than people think and it makes you hungrier. If you're here to lose weight, the app says so on day one rather than letting you conclude after two months that you failed. REMINDERS Pick the days you train and a time. Your phone nudges you. Set on the device, so nothing leaves it. ALSO IN THERE - A shape-of-the-session view, so you can see what you're in for before you start - Share a run to a chat, or anywhere else, in one tap - Every session you've logged, with the time you spent on your feet - Follow-along warm-up, cool-down and rest-day stretch videos, all optional - An 80-second cue test, so you can check the cues survive a locked pocket before you rely on them out on the road - One WhatsApp group, if you'd rather not do it on your own The running weeks follow the Couch to 5K programme from the NHS, Britain's national health service. The walking and ease-in weeks are our own build-up to it. This app is not affiliated with or endorsed by the NHS. Phil is not a doctor, dietitian or certified trainer. If you have any medical condition, talk to yours before you start. This is peer accountability, not medical advice.
