Store description excerpt
Photograph the bird at home, or one you caught with the camera, have it told apart on this device, and keep it in a field guide. This app cannot help with how to keep a bird or with its health. If something concerns you, please see a vet who treats birds. - This guide knows twelve, and only twelve Cockatiel, canary, zebra finch, rosy-faced lovebird, macaw, society finch, budgerigar, umbrella cockatoo, Java sparrow, Fischer's lovebird, Pacific parrotlet, African grey parrot. Anything outside that list will not be told apart correctly, however good the photo. When that happens it says "I could not tell" rather than forcing the nearest match. It does not pretend to know what it does not know. The list of what it knows is inside the app too. - It does not pretend to be right - At most three candidates. It does not commit to one - How sure it is comes with each one, in three levels - When it is not sure enough, no candidate is offered - The same photo gives the same answer every time - Readable without a camera - The write-ups for all twelve are original: appearance, what to look for, how they live, small facts, and hints for watching, with sources (Wikipedia, English and Japanese) - It reads as a field guide even if you never take a photo - No server, so nothing to keep paying for - The identification runs entirely on this device. There is no server bill, and so there is no monthly charge - Photos and records stay inside this device only. Nothing goes out. There is no account. There are no ads - Price - The app itself is free. Only the detailed "how to photograph" and "hints for recording" guidance opens with a one-time purchase - One payment opens it for all twelve. It is not a subscription, and using it more costs nothing more - "Restore purchase" carries it to a new device An honest little field guide for the birds around you.
