Store description excerpt

Compress PDFs by reducing colors to bilevel monochrome (black and white), by reducing DPI resolution, and by using the efficient TIFF CCITT Group 4 compression inside PDF, also known as ITU-T T.6 or MMR or Fax compression. Page format is restricted to a few options (A4, letter, portrait, landscape). Pages with different sizes and aspect ratios in the input document are scaled and centered on a white page of the selected format. This is to keep the application very simple. The primary usecase is shrinking PDF file size of scanned black&white documents. For example, a 25-page 25-megabyte document scanned with a common PDF scanner can be reduced to approximately 1.5 megabyte with this app. For another example, a one-page document can be compressed to approximately 60 kB. A simple text page can take as few as 10 kB. That's megabytes to kilobytes. The compression ratio can vary based on the contents, selected DPI and whether dithering is enabled (dithering makes the resulting size larger but allows better display of graphics). Context-aware advice is provided for PDFs that don't compress well. If you are not happy with the results, stronger lossy JBIG2 compression is also available. The app works completely offline. When you close or swipe away the application, the app loses its state and settings and forgets which document was selected. This protects your privacy. There is no telemetry, no analytics, no tracking, no advertising. The app contains only three hyperlinks that can open your web browser and all lead to github: When you open the license notice or the "about this project" notice, a cat icon appears in the top right corner, which serves as a hyperlink to the source code of the app; the included privacy policy contains two additional links to github. Additionally, to make the source code obtainable without any external internet requests, the source code is also available directly inside the app under the license notice (requires the knowledge of the command line of the GNU/Linux or similar operating system to open, without which it is just an inert block of text).
