Store description excerpt
PastScape shows you how a place has changed. Point it at a street and it gathers the photos taken there over the years, then puts two of them on screen at once: a recent one above, an older one below. Drag the divider to give either view more room. Move one view and the other follows, so both stay aimed at the same building while you compare. WHAT YOU CAN DO - Compare two dates at street level, one above the other - Scrub a timeline of every capture at that spot, spaced by date so you can see the real gaps between visits - Lock both views together, match direction only, or unlink them entirely - Turn on motion control and move your phone to look around - Jump to any place from a Google Maps link, or share a location straight into PastScape from the Maps app - Start from wherever you are, using your device location PLEASE READ THIS BEFORE INSTALLING PastScape uses Mapillary, a street-level photo platform where the imagery is contributed by volunteers. Two things follow from that. Coverage is uneven. Busy roads often have years of photos. Quiet streets and small lanes may have none at all. A comparison needs the same spot photographed at least twice, years apart. Plenty of places have been visited once. Where that happens PastScape shows the single photo and says plainly that there is nothing to compare it against, rather than pretending otherwise. So the app is only as good as the coverage where you live. It costs nothing to find out. IMAGERY AND CREDIT Every photo comes from a Mapillary contributor and is licensed CC BY-SA. PastScape credits Mapillary and the individual contributor on screen for each image it displays. PastScape is an independent app. It is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or connected to Google or Mapillary. LOCATION AND DATA When you ask PastScape to find photos near you, your coordinates are sent to Mapillary so it can return the nearby imagery. PastScape keeps no account, asks for no sign-in, and stores nothing about you. Location access is used only for the lookups you request. FREE, WITH ADS PastScape is free. One banner sits below the images. It never covers them, so you cannot tap an advert while dragging a view. WHAT IT IS NOT This is not a navigation app and not a map. There are no directions, no search for businesses, no reviews. It does one thing: it shows you the same place at two different times. Built by Pallas Software Suite.
