PLAN YOUR PITCH BEFORE YOU BUILD Field Calc is a parametric calculator for football field construction planning. Enter dimensions, choose a surface type, configure layers, and get a preliminary Bill of Materials covering excavation volumes, aggregate, sand, turf, drainage, geotextile, fencing, and marking. All calculations run locally — no internet, no account, no server. LAYER BUILDER The core feature is a visual cross-section editor. Each layer in the field structure has a name, material type, thickness, density, compaction factor, and waste percentage. Add custom layers, toggle any layer on or off, reorder with drag and drop, and edit values freely. Every change triggers an automatic recalculation of the full material specification. THREE SURFACE TYPES Natural seeded grass includes geotextile, drainage base, sand, root zone, seed, and marking. Rolled turf adds leveling and sod roll calculations with overlap and cutting waste. Artificial turf covers stone base, shock pad, synthetic grass rolls, tape, adhesive, infill, and marking. Pick one as a starting point and customize from there. FIELD DIMENSIONS Enter playing length and width, then add buffer zones behind the goals and along the sides. The app calculates total construction area, perimeter, and excavation volume from these inputs. Metric and imperial units are both supported. DRAINAGE AND EXTRAS Configure drain line spacing, pipe length, roll widths, overlap allowances, fencing perimeter, infill rates, seed density, adhesive coverage, and marking paint. All values are editable starting points, not fixed standards. BILL OF MATERIALS Results are grouped by category: earthworks, bulk materials, roll materials, surface covering, drainage, and additional items. Each line shows the base quantity, the final quantity after compaction and waste, the unit of measurement, and a short explanation of the formula used. SURFACE COMPARISON Create up to three variants of the same field — for example, natural grass versus artificial turf — and compare them side by side. The comparison highlights differences in layer count, total thickness, bulk volumes, roll areas, and drainage length. PROJECTS LIBRARY Save multiple projects locally. Duplicate a project to test a different configuration without losing the original. Delete with a confirmation step. All data persists after closing and reopening the app. NOT AN ENGINEERING TOOL Results are preliminary informational estimates.
