PALAYSCAN is an educational mobile application designed for rice farmers, agricultural students, and aspiring farmers. The app helps users identify possible rice pests and diseases by taking a clear photo of an affected rice plant or selecting an image from the gallery. PALAYSCAN provides a guided identification result together with useful reference information to support learning and field observation. Key features: • Rice pest and disease identification from photos • Camera and gallery image support • Photo guidance to help improve scan quality • Rice pest and disease reference guides • Field planner for rice-growing activities • Reminders for upcoming and overdue field tasks • Notification history for scan and planner updates • English and Filipino language support • Saved scan history and planner records on the device PALAYSCAN uses an online identification service for supported scans. An internet connection is required for online image analysis, while several guides, planner features, and saved information remain available on the device. Identification results are intended to support learning and field decision-making and should not be treated as a guaranteed diagnosis. Results may vary depending on photo quality, visible symptoms, crop condition, and other factors. For important crop-management decisions, users are encouraged to consult qualified agricultural personnel. PALAYSCAN was developed as an academic and non-commercial capstone project by Bachelor of Science in Information Technology students from Dominican College of Tarlac. Online crop identification is powered by Kindwise Crop Health.
