Store description excerpt

Osirix Quest puts you at an archaeologist's field desk, working through squeeze-paper rubbings of ancient monuments to decode the secret names of Egypt's greatest pharaohs — using the same concepts real Egyptologists apply. Drag hieroglyphic signs from the glyph tray into the transliteration strip, tag each one as phonogram, ideogram, or silent determinative, and watch Gardiner reference codes bloom in the margin as a royal name assembles before your eyes. Twelve authentic cartouches await — from the short, crisp name of Khufu to the phonetically layered spelling of Cleopatra, the damaged inscription of Djoser (where a chipped sign forces you to infer the reading from context alone), and two UNSEEN cartouches — Menkaure and Userkaf — where the pharaoh's identity stays hidden until you crack the reading cold. Mis-tag a biliteral sign and the reading stalls with an ochre flush; recover correctly and keep going. Go deeper with 20 progressive lessons in The Primer, covering the uniliteral alphabet, biliterals and phonetic complements, honorific transposition, determinative classes, and the full structure of the royal titulary. Browse 80 catalogued Gardiner signs in the Sign-List, favouriting the ones you want to remember. Every cartouche you fully decode is exported as a Decoded Card — stamped with hieroglyphs, transliteration, and translation — and saved to your Finds Vault. On iOS you can attach a real-world photo of a monument inscription to any card and share your decoded finds to Photos. Ten illustrated achievement Seals reward key milestones: First Reading, Mind the Complement, Honour the God, Read it Cold, Through the Primer, and more. Three immersive themes — warm Faded Ochre, deep Blueprint Indigo, and dark Sepia Night — wrap every screen in an atmosphere that makes each session feel like genuine fieldwork. Whether you are a history enthusiast, an Egyptology student, or simply someone who has always wanted to know how to read a pharaoh's name, Osirix Quest gives you the real thing.
