Store description excerpt

Point your camera at the horizon and your saved waypoints appear floating over the real world - near ones large and close, distant ones small and faded. No special hardware, no data connection, no account. Just your phone's camera, GPS and compass working together. Off-Grid GPS is a bearing-and-distance tool for when there is no signal and no map. It doesn't download map tiles and it won't plan a route. It tells you which way to turn and how far you have left - the way a hand-held GPS or a compass does, with augmented reality on top. WHAT IT DOES - Augmented reality camera view - waypoints hover over the live camera feed, positioned by compass bearing and GPS. - Colour-cued waypoint list - each row shifts to vivid green as you close in on a waypoint, and to red as you drift away. No mental arithmetic needed; the colour tells you everything at a glance. - Live distance, bearing and an ETA range to every saved location, refreshed every second. - Tap any waypoint for the full picture: degrees to turn, closing speed and absolute bearing. - GPS speed, course, elevation and accuracy, with a colour-coded accuracy bar. - Find and add waypoints using the built-in map search. Drag pins to reposition. - Metric, imperial or nautical units. - Fully dark interface. WORKS WITH NO SIGNAL No mobile data, no Wi-Fi and no cell coverage required - only a clear view of the sky. Off-Grid GPS works in flight mode, in wilderness with no reception, at sea and on remote roads. Everything is stored locally on your device. WHO IT'S FOR Hikers and backpackers heading off trail. Sailors, kayakers and anyone crossing open water. Overlanders and drivers on remote desert roads. Geocachers. Hunters and anglers. Radio amateurs taking bearings to antennas and distant towers. Drone operators and pilots. Anyone who needs a direction and a distance when the map runs out. FREE, WITH NO CATCH No ads. No nags. No subscription. No account required. No tracking. Your waypoints never leave your phone. I wrote the first version of Off-Grid GPS in 2009 because I needed it myself, and I have kept it free ever since.
