NYC Sniffer reads the city's restaurant inspection records so you don't have to. Type any restaurant in the five boroughs and get the verdict in seconds: the posted letter grade, the full inspection history, the rodent record, and whether the Health Department has ever shut the place down mid-service. All of it from official city records, decoded into plain English. THE DOG SCORE Every spot gets a 0–100 Dog Score — our own read of a kitchen's food-safety record. It weighs the city's inspection scores (the real ones, from full inspections — not the victory lap after a cleanup), vermin evidence and how recent it is, critical food-safety violations, and closures. What it never counts: fines, paperwork, or administrative noise. Dirty means dirty, not "behind on filings." The letter grades shown are the city's own; the Dog Score is ours, and we show our work. RAT CHECK Mice, rats, roaches, flies — tallied from the actual inspection findings, with the last sighting dated. Clean spots get their flowers too: "Zero rodent evidence" is a flex worth sharing. THE RECEIPTS Every inspection, itemized like a register receipt: what was found, what was critical, what it scored. No summaries hiding the good stuff. HEAD TO HEAD Two restaurants walk in. One verdict walks out. Settle the date-night debate with a side-by-side matchup — and share the fight card. LEADERBOARDS "Cleanest near you" and the "Hall of Shame," ranked by Dog Score from your corner of the city. Shame is earned: only spots with recent scored inspections make the board. SHARE THE VERDICT Story-ready verdict cards built for the group chat. The receipts speak for themselves. NO ACCOUNTS. NO TRACKING. No sign-up, no ads, no analytics, no data collected.
