This book is a concise syarah (explanation) that combines matan with explanation, prepared as an introduction (tawti'ah) to the book ash-Shirath al-Mustaqim by his teacher, as well as to facilitate understanding of the longer ash-Syarh al-Qawim. Main Theme: 1. Aqidah (Tawheed and the Attributes of Allah) - Explanation of the thirteen mandatory characteristics of Allah and the impossible characteristics and jaiz. - Rebuttal to the ideology of tasybih (likening Allah to creatures), tajsim (assuming Allah has mass), and deviant schools such as Wahhabiyyah, Mu'tazilah, Jabariyyah, Qadariyyah, and Khawarij. 2. Prophethood and Miracles - Explanation of the mandatory qualities for prophets (siddiq, amanah, tabligh, fathanah) and impossible qualities. - Explanation of miracles and their differences with karomah, magic, and istidraj. 3. Pillars of Faith - Belief in Allah, angels, books, messengers, the last day, and destiny (good and bad). - Explanation of heaven, hell, reckoning, mizan, shirath, haudh, intercession, punishment of the grave, and questions of the grave. 4. Worship and Practical Laws - Explanation of syahadatain, the conditions for the validity of Islam and faith. - Riddah (apostasy) laws, division of disbelief (i'tiqadi, qawli, fi'li), and things that invalidate Islam. 5. Heresy and its Division - Explanation of the hasanah heresy and the dhalalah heresy. - Defense of practices such as commemoration of the Prophet's birthday, shalawat jahr after the call to prayer, grave pilgrimages, and tawassul with the prophets and saints. 6. Tawassul and Tabarruk - A lengthy rebuttal to the Wahhabiyyah ideology which considers tawassul and tabarruk as shirk, by presenting arguments from the Koran, hadith and atsar of the companions. 7. Ijtihad and Taqlid - Explanation of the levels of mujtahid and muqallid, as well as the obligations of lay people to ask questions from ulama. Writing Method: This book is written in Arabic which is easy to understand, equipped with naqli arguments (al-Qur'an and hadith) as well as akli arguments. The author also presents the opinions of four madzhab ulama and provides argumentative rebuttals to schools which are considered to deviate from the creed of Ahlus Sunnah wal Jama'ah.
