Endometriosis affects 1 in every 10 women during their reproductive years. It can affect most organs in the female body, and it may cause infertility, pain, or both. Still women continue to be under diagnosed and under treated for endometriosis. Unfortunately, often by the time the final diagnosis for this disease is made, it is 3 to 11 years after the onset of the initial symptoms. In Drs. Nezhats’ experience, the majority of “no reason” infertility couples who have normal findings have endometriosis and can be helped.
