Store description excerpt
Nevada Water Watch tracks Nevada's water story with real numbers, not headlines: reservoirs, rivers, snowpack, drought, and groundwater, explained in plain English. WHAT'S INSIDE Reservoirs: Lake Mead and Lake Mohave, plus Lahontan, Wild Horse, and Rye Patch Reservoirs. Rivers: live gauge readings for the Truckee, Carson, Walker, and Humboldt Rivers. Snowpack and precipitation: Nevada's mountain snowpack, tracked at both the Carson Range near Tahoe and the Ruby Mountains in Elko County. Drought: statewide and county-level drought footprint, updated weekly. Groundwater: six real Nevada hydrographic basins with their official designation and perennial-yield status, plus a live monitoring well per basin with its own multi-year depth-to-water history. Water quality: live pH, temperature, conductance, dissolved oxygen, and turbidity readings from Nevada's river monitoring stations. Colorado River: an explanation of the return-flow credit mechanism that lets Las Vegas grow on the smallest Lower Basin apportionment of any of the three states, and why Nevada's shortage cuts land the same way Arizona's do, unlike California's. Stories and insights: curated "Straight Talk About Our Water" stories plus live-computed insights, with a timeline slider back to 1990. Data quality, shown honestly: every reading is labeled provisional, reviewed, reported, last-known, or unavailable. Nothing is presented as current if it isn't. Forecasting: an on-device condition model and a random-forest direction forecaster, both trained from scratch on your device from real historical readings. No server, no bundled model file. Analytics: which readings the model trusted (and why it left the rest out), a plain-language data-quality ledger, drinking-water violation history for Nevada's largest municipal utilities, and real Nevada tribal water-rights entitlements with legal citations. This is a live-data product, not a static report. Live public data is fetched directly by your device, with no backend server in between. Also available on Mac, Apple TV, and Apple Watch.
