Store description excerpt
When you use a smartphone, your head tilts forward by an average of 38.9 degrees. At just 30 degrees of forward tilt, the load on your cervical spine is about four times that of a neutral posture. NeckGuard uses the motion sensors in your AirPods to detect that dangerous angle in real time and protect your neck. [ Why both angle AND time matter ] Research suggests that both a large forward tilt (20-45 degrees) and long sustained duration (more than 2 hours a day) contribute to forward head posture. NeckGuard watches both at the same time. [ Main features ] - Real-time angle measurement Continuously monitors your head's forward tilt using the AirPods motion sensors. - Personal calibration Just sit up straight and tap a button to register your own neutral posture. - Two-stage detection: angle x time Combines a threshold angle (10-60 degrees) with a duration (3-30 seconds), so alerts fire accurately while false positives stay low. - Alerts you can choose Haptic only, voice only, or haptic + voice. Haptic strength can be set to Light, Medium, Strong or SOS. - Tilt angle graph Look back at how your angle changed over the session. - Monitoring sound and background operation While monitoring, NeckGuard plays a calming ambient sound (ocean waves, stream or white noise, with an adjustable volume). This continuous playback also keeps monitoring running after you return to the Home Screen or turn the screen off. - A caution built in, backed by evidence Holding one "perfect" posture without moving is also a load on your neck and shoulders, so the app tells you not to make the settings too strict and recommends standing up and moving every 30-60 minutes. [ Supported devices ] AirPods Pro (1st and 2nd generation), AirPods (3rd generation), AirPods Max Note: AirPods (1st and 2nd generation) are not supported. [ Please note ] This app is not a medical device. It is not intended to diagnose or treat any neck condition; it is an everyday aid for becoming aware of your posture.
