Polish Post Office in Gdańsk – Audio Guide to the Exhibition. On September 1, 1939, a few minutes after 4:45 a.m., employees of the Polish Post Office in the Free City of Gdańsk engaged in one of the first battles of World War II. They defended the building at Heweliusz Square for several hours, until the evening. This app tells their story – right where it happened. The audio guide leads you through the exhibition at the Polish Post Museum in Gdańsk: room by room, story by story. All you need is a phone and headphones to explore at your own pace and stop wherever you like. How the Polish post office operated in a city that belonged neither to Poland nor Germany. Post offices and mailboxes, postmen and operators, stamps, parcels, and phone calls – the everyday life of an institution that also served as a symbol of Polish presence in Gdańsk.
