Do you have a smartwatch, activity tracker, or smartphone and would like to give the Tromsø Study access to your physical activity (e.g., steps), energy expenditure (kcal) and sleep data? You can participate in the study if you are over 40 years old and reside in Tromsø municipality. You will receive an invitation by post if this applies to you. The purpose of this part of the study is to research activity, energy expenditure, sedentary behaviour, and sleep. We will only collect daily measurements of steps, minutes of activity, sedentary time, sleep, and energy expenditure. Location (GPS) data will not be collected. More information about the Tromsø Study: https://uit.no/project/tromso8. More information about mSpider: https://mspider.org. HOW TO USE THE APP You must be a registered participant in the Tromsø Study to use the app. - Once you have completed registration, you will receive a participant number via email. - This participant number is entered in the app to log in and accept consent. - After logging in, you can choose which provider you want to share data from. You can choose between Fitbit, Garmin, Polar, and Health Connect/Android. - If you choose Fitbit, Garmin, or Polar, you activate data sharing through the selected provider's authentication solution. You will receive instructions via the mSpider app. - If you choose Google Health Connect or Android, you must grant permission to share data via the Health Connect app on your Android phone. We request the following data types: Steps, Active energy expenditure, and Sleep. - The data collected will be stored in the Tromsø Study's secure systems and used for health research projects. DEVELOPMENT The data collection solution (mSpider) has been implemented by UiT The Arctic University of Norway, Department of Computer Science.
