Store description excerpt
Mountain Weather helps hillwalkers, climbers and wild campers decide where and when to go, with independent forecasts for named UK hills, climbing crags and mountain regions across Scotland, England and Wales. SEARCH ANY UK HILL Search more than 980 peaks and see a practical seven-day mountain forecast. Compare hill-day and views scores, wind and gusts at different heights, rainfall, summit temperature, cloud base and top, clear-summit chances, sunshine timing and the best period of the day. FIND THE BEST CONDITIONS The UK weekend outlook compares mountain regions and highlights the strongest prospects. Day-by-day score bars make it easy to find the best forecast day for a hill, while possible-inversion signals help you spot special conditions. CLIMBING CRAG FORECASTS Check named crags using climbing scores, recent and forecast rain, likely rock drying, wind exposure, rock type and links to BMC regional access information. Compare crags to find the best climbing conditions. WILD-CAMPING FORECASTS See overnight wind, rain, temperature, condensation and pack-up conditions, then compare UK peaks for a promising wild-camping night. WATCH THE WEATHER YOU WANT Follow a hill, crag or region and get notified when the forecast reaches the conditions you choose. Watch for manageable wind, dry and settled spells, clear summits, possible inversions, climbing weather or multi-day weather windows. Planned-objective watches can warn you when conditions no longer match your chosen dates. MORE PRACTICAL DETAIL • Morning and afternoon guidance • Sunshine timing through the day • Midge encounter risk where relevant • Forecast-change guidance • Downloaded reports available with poor signal • Adjustable text sizes and dark-mode support WINTER AND OFFICIAL SOURCES Mountain Weather reports include freezing-level and avalanche information where available. Optional Mountain Weather Information Service (MWIS) reports can still be followed and read in the app. In Scotland, alerts can notify you when a new official avalanche forecast is published and take you to the corresponding Scottish Avalanche Information Service (SAIS) report. Mountain Weather does not copy or replace the SAIS forecast. Mountain Weather is free to use and has no display advertising or subscription. Relevant trip-planning pages may include optional accommodation links. If you book through one, we may earn a small commission at no extra cost to you, helping support the service. Mountain forecasts can change quickly and cannot remove the risks of hill travel. Check the latest forecast, warnings and avalanche information, carry suitable equipment and make decisions appropriate to your experience and conditions.
