The Meteo Elec application is 100% free and gives you access to the Belgian electricity situation in real time. You also have access to a 7-day electricity forecast that allows you to choose the best times to consume greener electricity! → How does it work? ← The electricity consumed by Belgian citizens comes from different more or less polluting primary energy sources (solar, wind, biomass, nuclear, gas, etc.) that form the energy mix. The proportions of this energy mix are constantly changing due to the instabilities associated with renewable energies, which affects the carbon footprint of our electricity. Météo Elec has built a model that predicts the proportion of renewables in the Belgian energy mix hour by hour, over 7 days. By shifting our electricity consumption from a time when a large proportion of the energy mix is composed of fossil fuels to a time when the proportion of the mix is composed of more renewable energies, we can reduce our CO2 impact while covering the same consumption need. The CO2 saving we generate by shifting our consumption is real and independent of our electricity supplier. Even if we have subscribed to a 100% "green" electricity contract that financially supports renewable energy producers, we can also really reduce the CO2 emissions linked to our consumption by following the indications of Meteo Elec. → Real Time and Predictions ← Using the Meteo Elec app is a simple way to access the Belgian electricity weather forecast in order to adapt our electricity consumption accordingly. → Hour by Hour Details ← The app provides hour-by-hour details of the amount of electricity produced using renewable energy. As well as indications as to the total Belgian electricity demand. → Red Signal Alert ← The app user can decide to be alerted in advance (via notification) when Meteo Elec red and/or orange hours are imminent. → Reduce my electricity bill ← If you have a communicating/smart meter and subscribe to a dynamic electricity contract, the price of your energy changes every hour according to market prices. Thanks to price forecasts up to 7 days in advance, Météo Elec allows you to reduce your bill by concentrating your highest consumption at the cheapest times.
