Lunar Mirage is an antique-inspired Turing machine atelier — a living workbench where you author transition tables, load a tape, and watch the reading head step cell by cell across it. Build machines from scratch or load any of 48 curated specimens drawn from the history of computability: binary adders, palindrome deciders, the legendary Busy Beavers, and more. Each machine runs inside The Movement — a brass-instrument panel where step-by-step animation, amber haptic clicks, and three verdict lamps (Halted, No halt, Ran off tape) make the abstract mechanics of computation tactile and immediate. The Cabinet holds the full specimen library, organised into seven categories — Arithmetic, Automata, Busy Beavers, Deciders, Non-halters, Universal, and Utilities. Tap any specimen to read its behaviour notes, cross-references, and full transition table, then load it onto the bench with a single tap. Save favourites and bind your own machines to The Ledger — a personal vault where you can attach photos, add notes, and export a rendered brass machine card to your photo library. The Primer walks you from first principles to universality across 18 sequential lessons in 5 chapters. Depth lessons link directly into The Movement so you can follow theory with a live, running machine beside the text. Five long-form Dossiers — case histories covering Turing's 1936 paper, Radó's Busy Beaver problem, and more — give historical and philosophical depth to the mathematics. A daily specimen surfaces each morning on the home console, making every visit a small, fresh discovery. Four instrument-plate themes — Lacquer, Oxblood, Nocturne, and Ivory Plate — dress the interface in aged brass, enamel, and engraved card-stock. Adjustable run speed (2–30 steps/second), a toggleable escapement haptic on every head step, and a fully offline design complete the experience. No account. No network.
