LOCUS — Forensic acquisition and digital site survey LOCUS turns your iPhone and iPad into a professional tool to document places, objects and events with full technical traceability. Built for technical consultants, law enforcement, expert witnesses, security managers and law firms, the app produces a complete, third-party-verifiable evidence package for every acquisition, in line with forensic best practices. What it does For every photo, video or audio recording, LOCUS automatically builds a cryptographic chain of custody: • Time synchronisation via NTP and RFC 3161 timestamping (with optional eIDAS qualified InfoCert timestamp) • Triple cryptographic hash of the file (MD5, SHA-256, SHA-512) • Device-bound Ed25519 digital signature • GPS geolocation, compass heading and environmental data • Watermark with date/time, coordinates and unique identifier • Preserved EXIF metadata and in-media provenance (inspired by C2PA/JUMBF) • Forensic PDF report and CASE/UCO descriptor • Sealed, self-validating BagIt package (RFC 8493) Independent verification Each acquisition produces a public verification link and can be checked offline with the LOCUS Validator desktop app, without relying on our servers: anyone (opposing expert, prosecutor, judge) can compare hashes, timestamps and signature. Standards ISO/IEC 27037, SWGDE guidelines, RFC 3161 (timestamping), eIDAS, EXIF 2.32, CASE/UCO, BagIt, ISO/IEC 14496-12 for video. Note LOCUS documents and seals what you capture transparently: it honestly declares the origin of the data (live capture or system camera) and does not alter the content.
