LOCUS turns smartphones and tablets into a professional tool to document places, objects and events with a cryptographic, third-party-verifiable chain of custody. PRIVACY FIRST — YOUR CONTENT NEVER LEAVES YOUR DEVICE LOCUS is built around confidentiality. The photos, videos and audio you capture stay ON YOUR DEVICE: they are not uploaded to our servers. Only the metadata required for certification and a "privacy-safe" representation (e.g. a histogram and perceptual hashes) are transmitted — and from these the original image or audio CANNOT be reconstructed. The complete evidence package stays fully in your hands: you decide whether and to whom to hand it over. WHAT IT DOES For every photo, video or audio recording, LOCUS automatically builds robust evidence: • Time synchronisation via NTP and RFC 3161 timestamping (with optional eIDAS qualified InfoCert timestamp) • Triple cryptographic hash of the file (MD5, SHA-256, SHA-512) • Device-bound Ed25519 digital signature • GPS geolocation, compass heading and environmental data • Watermark with date/time, coordinates and unique identifier • Sealed, self-validating BagIt package (RFC 8493) with a CASE/UCO descriptor INDEPENDENT VERIFICATION Every acquisition can be verified by anyone, even offline and without relying on us: via the public verification page or with the free LOCUS Validator desktop app (Windows, macOS, Linux). Opposing parties, expert witnesses and judges can recompute hashes, timestamps and signature on their own. HOW WE HANDLE DATA • Captured content (photos/videos/audio): NOT transmitted, stays on the device. • Data sent to the server, solely to provide the service: email address and name (registration), the acquisition's GPS location, device identifiers (for the chain of custody) and anonymous diagnostics for app stability. • All data travels over an encrypted connection (HTTPS/TLS). • No sharing with third parties for commercial purposes. No ads. • You can request deletion of your account and associated data at any time. WHO IT'S FOR Technical consultants, law enforcement, expert witnesses, insurers, security managers, law firms and professionals who need to document evidence with technical traceability. HOW IT WORKS Sign in with your credentials, choose photo, video or audio, optionally enable the qualified timestamp and capture: LOCUS runs the whole pipeline and hands you a package ready to archive and share. The service is slot-based; slots are managed and topped up from your account on the website (the app only uses them). An Internet connection is required (needed for the timestamp and the slot check). NOTE LOCUS transparently documents and seals what you capture and honestly declares the origin of the data; it does not alter the content.
