LIH SONAR is a mobile application developed by the Luxembourg Institute of Health (LIH) to support data collection for the SONAR cohort research study. The application is intended exclusively for individuals who have been invited to participate in the SONAR study and who receive access credentials from the study team. The app is not intended for use by the general public. Before participating in the study and using the application, individuals are provided with detailed information about the research study and are asked to provide their informed consent directly within the app. The SONAR research study has been reviewed and approved by the Luxembourg national research ethics committee (CNER). LIH SONAR allows study participants to securely collect research data in accordance to the study protocol, including: • Self-reported health status and symptoms • Study questionnaires completed • Voice recordings collected for research analysis Authorized study staff may also use the app during scheduled study visits to record study-related information. Participants can view selected information they have reported through simple and intuitive visualizations within the app. With the participant’s explicit consent, LIH SONAR may optionally connect to health data platforms such as Apple Health or Google Health Connect to access limited data including: • Step count • Heart rate • Weight • Sleep metrics These data are used solely as research indicators of physical activity and general health status to support the scientific objectives of the SONAR study. Personal data collected through the application are securely stored and processed only by the authorized research team for the purposes of the study, in accordance with applicable data protection regulations and the participant’s informed consent. Important notice LIH SONAR is not a medical device and does not provide medical diagnosis, treatment, monitoring, or clinical recommendations. The application is intended only for research data collection and should not be used as a substitute for professional medical advice. Users should consult a qualified healthcare professional for any medical concerns.
