Lex is a fast, beautiful Scrabble word checker and dictionary for the moment your friend across the table claims "qi" is a word. Type any word, see in an instant whether it's a legal play in international Scrabble (SOWPODS), how many tile points it scores, and what it means. Roughly 268,000 words and offline definition entries for every legal word are bundled in the app for instant lookup. Open Lex, type a word, and the result card updates as you type: a green VALID badge or red NOT VALID, the word laid out as wooden Scrabble tiles, the total point value, and grouped definitions by part of speech (noun, verb, adjective, adverb). The Scan tab lets you photograph a Boggle list, screenshot, or handwritten notes, then review valid and invalid words side by side. The Recent tab keeps a history of typed lookups, and Settings lets you remove ads or upgrade to Lex Pro. Lex is free with a single Medium Rectangle banner ad on the search screen; a one-time Remove Ads purchase turns it off permanently. Typed lookups are processed entirely on-device. Photo word checks run OCR on-device, then send only extracted text and line layout to Lex's parser so messy columns and numbering can be cleaned into a word list. Free users get 1 photo check per month; Lex Pro unlocks unlimited photo checks and also removes ads.
