Store description excerpt
Lex-i-Pals — Dyslexia-Friendly Text Reader Lex-i-Pals makes any written text easier to read. Paste or type anything — an article, an email, a school assignment — and the app instantly reformats it using typography and accessibility tools designed specifically for readers with dyslexia, ADHD, or visual processing differences. How it works Paste your text into the input area. Lex-i-Pals reformats it immediately — no buttons, no extra steps. Use the settings panel to adjust the layout to your comfort, then read on screen or let the app read it aloud to you. Reading Accessibility Features • Adjustable font size, letter spacing, word spacing, and line height • Syllable-Friendly mode — adds soft break hints inside long words to make them easier to decode • Focus Line mode — tap any sentence to highlight it and block out surrounding text • Sentence Chunking mode — splits long paragraphs into short, manageable lines • Five colour themes including Dark mode and High Contrast (yellow on black) Read Aloud (Text-to-Speech) • Tap Read to have the app read the formatted text aloud using your device's built-in speech engine • Pause, Resume, and Stop at any point • Adjustable reading speed from 0.5× to 2.0× • Works in silent mode — audio plays even when your iPhone's mute switch is on Show Pronunciation • Toggle "Show Pronunciation" in the Accessibility toolbar to display phonetic guides next to complex words • Pronunciations use a clear, syllable-marked format (e.g. un-PRES-ih-den-tid) that is easier to read than IPA symbols • When enabled, the app looks up unfamiliar words using the Free Dictionary API (dictionaryapi.dev), a free and open-source public dictionary — no personal data is sent, only the word itself • Results are saved on your device so the same word is never looked up twice • A built-in offline dictionary is always available as a fallback with no internet connection required Privacy first Lex-i-Pals collects no personal data, requires no account, and has no ads. The only network request the app ever makes is fetching a phonetic pronunciation for a specific English word from a public dictionary. Your text never leaves your device. Who it's for • Students and adults with dyslexia or reading difficulties • People with ADHD who benefit from focused, reduced-clutter reading • ESL learners who want pronunciation help alongside text • Anyone who finds standard on-screen text hard to read for extended periods
