I don't always have a pleasant time learning new languages. I'm not struggling exactly. Just bored of learning vocabulary, the way anyone gets bored of a list. So I built myself a game :) Ghosts drift toward a tower, each one carrying a word. You type the translation and shoot it down. Get it wrong, or just get it slow, and they keep coming. I wouldn't say it's an easy game, but it allows for quick repetition in a fun setting. That's the whole idea. Learning a language is a long fight with words that won't stay in your head, and you don't win it by being disciplined. You win it by enjoying yourself enough to come back tomorrow. There's a reason it works, and it isn't the ghosts. Every round makes you pull a word out of your own memory rather than recognize it on a page. Do that often enough, spread across days, and it stays. French, Italian, English and Spanish, in any direction. Learn Italian from French, English from Spanish, whichever pair you actually need. Each one remembers where you got to. If enough people play it, I'll add more languages :) 600 words across 20 themes, from fruit and animals to the kitchen, the body, transport and the weather. Three tiers each, so it gets harder roughly as fast as you do. Every word is spoken out loud, because a word you can't hear isn't really a word you know yet. It's an educational game, and kind of fun. It works completely offline. No account, no sign-in, no ads, nothing collected about you. The tutorial and your first two rounds are free, so you can find out whether it suits you before deciding anything. After that, Lessico Pro opens up everything: all 20 themes, all three tiers, all twelve language pairs. It starts with a week free, then a monthly subscription, and you can cancel any time in your Apple settings.
