Keith Verify is the companion app for Keith, a conveyancing-focussed law firm. When you buy or sell a property with Keith, you are required to verify your identity and address. Both happen in the app: - Identity: photograph your passport and record a short selfie video. If your passport has a chip the app reads that too, which meets HM Land Registry's Safe Harbour standard. Without a chip the check still completes. - Address: confirm where you live with a recent bank statement, utility bill or similar. Do this in the app straight after your identity check, or on your computer instead. You reach the app from the Keith website. When you get to the identity step it shows you a QR code, and scanning it opens the app already linked to your transaction. There is nothing to sign up for and no password. What you need: a phone with a camera, and NFC to read your passport chip. Most phones made in the last ten years have both. Your passport read and selfie are handled by Onfido, a UK-regulated identity provider. Keith receives the result of the check, not your biometrics.
