Store description excerpt
"Kariuchi" is a board game similar to Sugoroku that was played in many parts of Japan during the Nara period (710-794). Although it was very popular in the capital and other places, the game was lost for a long time in Japan. In recent years, a researcher at the Nara National Research Institute for Cultural Properties, Nara Prefecture, has analyzed symbols on earthenware and roof tiles excavated from Nara-period sites around Japan and revived it as a modern game based on the game "Yunnori," which is still popular in Korea. The rules of the game are very simple. The players take turns throwing wooden sticks called "kari" like dice to advance their own pieces. The first player to reach the goal with four pieces wins. You can stack your frames, return your opponent's pieces to the starting point, or take shortcuts. When you win a game, you can choose more opponents, more boards and more pieces to play with. You can also play with others in the versus mode. There are many other options available for you to try out.
