The Purwa Javanese calendar is a creation that combines quantitative time divisions of pranatamangsa and qualitative time divisions in the form of pawukon. Pranatamangsa is a solar-based time division starting from June 22 to June 21 of the following year divided into 12 Mangsa as a guide for weather and farming for the Javanese people. This pranatamangsa time division is believed to have been compiled since 911 BC by Mpu Hubayun and Mpu Radi in the Purwacarita and Babad Galuh Purba manuscripts who lived on the slopes of Mount Slamet. Pawukon is a 210-day cycle divided into 30 wuku or weeks or Raditya starting on Sunday pahing / Raditya Jenar wuku Sinta and ending on Saturday Legi / Tumpak Umanis wuku Watugunung. Each day in the 210 days has a special use and has local wisdom values that aim to maintain awareness to always be alert and vigilant for the Javanese people.
