“A dream not interpreted is a letter not read,” teaches Rav Chisda (Berakhot 55a). The Talmud devoted whole folios to reading dreams responsibly, without fortune-telling. Jolem brings that study into your night: write down what you dreamed when you wake, and uncover its meaning matched against real sources, each with its exact folio. Jolem is a Jewish text-study app, not a fortune-telling tool and not a horoscope. The Torah forbids divination outright (Devarim 18:10), and Jolem holds to that with the same rigor: it never predicts the future, and it never invents a source. It looks for the meaning the Talmud itself teaches you to look for, and always reads toward the good. HOW IT WORKS Record your dream when you wake, by voice or in writing. Jolem checks it against a registry of 196 symbols the Talmud actually discusses — the well, the river, the wheat, the teeth — and shows you what each source says, with its exact citation: the Berakhot sugya, the dreams of the Tanakh, the Zohar. When the sources are silent about something in your dream, Jolem says so: that is a limit of our sources, not a verdict on your dream. The unlimited dream journal and the complete registry of all 196 symbols, each with its folio, are free forever. The sources are not ours to sell, so showing them never costs anything. THE CHAVRUTA With the subscription, a chavruta — the Talmudic word for a study partner — reads your actual dream against those sources: a new reading every day, plus a synthesis at the close of each Hebrew month, on Rosh Chodesh. You can keep asking the chavruta about the same dream. BEFORE YOU SLEEP Leave a question for the night. The Talmud teaches that a dream comes from what the heart has been dwelling on (Berakhot 55b) — and Jolem brings your question back when you read tomorrow's dream. THE CROSSINGS OF YOUR NIGHTS Over time, your journal starts to weave together: symbols that return, sister nights on the Hebrew calendar, people who reappear in your dreams, mirror dreams between distant nights. The more nights you record, the more threads appear. WHEN A DREAM WEIGHS ON YOU Tradition does not leave you alone with a heavy dream: you can bring it before three people who love you, the practice the Talmud itself asks for in Berakhot 55b. YOUR PRIVACY Your journal lives only on your phone. No accounts, no cloud, no tracking of what you dream. The only thing that ever leaves your phone is the text of your dream, and only when you ask for the chavruta's reading.
