Some believe that Jesus is a dove because he is typically portrayed with wings spread open in prayer. Other believe that Mary is a dove because she flew away from her son's body when she saw it failing through the Crucifixion. However, other believers believe that she was a figment of Jesus' imagination since she appears only once in the entire Bible- at Jesus' baptism by John in the River Jordan. In this case, believers may interpret 'a dove' as a reference to himself rather than to the bird itself. Both Jesus and Mary were perfect examples of how to live a moral life based on faith in God Almighty. They were learned persons who taught others about God Almighty and humanity's role in creation. Their teachings have led to hundreds of millions of followers worldwide today who celebrate their birth, death and resurrection annually.
