Store description excerpt

JellyCascade is a puzzle game about spending a resource. Every level hands you a fixed supply of bubbles and nothing else. Refills arrive only after a pop, so every tap you make spends part of what is left. When the queue empties and the objective is still unmet, the level is over. No timer, no lives, no energy meter, no waiting for something to refill overnight. The supply is the clock, and how you spend it is the whole game. THE BOARD Tap any bubble that touches at least one more of its color, and the whole connected group pops at once. Everything above falls into the gap. If the landing happens to form a new group, that group pops on its own — a chain, and each step of it is worth more than the last. Pop again quickly and a combo builds on top of that. Group size is the single biggest lever on your score. One group of eight is worth far more than four groups of two, so a tidy board is usually worth more than a fast one. Touch and hold before you commit and the game shows you the cascade the tap would set off. 750 LEVELS ACROSS 25 WORLDS Every world runs thirty levels, brings one new idea, and looks nothing like the world before it. Gravity flips on the beat in Clockwork. Event Horizon pulls bubbles toward a point that keeps drifting instead of straight down. Escher Dream joins the left and right edges of the board, so a bubble on one edge matches the bubble opposite it. The Bioluminescent Abyss sits in the dark, and each pop lights the bubbles around it for a few seconds. Sandstorms push stone into the board. Spores keep sprouting new bubbles into the space you just cleared. From the second world on, each one announces its twist before it uses it, then ramps it across the thirty levels that follow. Twelve kinds of bubble turn up along the way. Rainbow counts as every color at once. Crystal shatters its color within two hexes. Frozen takes two pops. Fuse counts down and then blows a hole in the board. Mirror and stone cannot be tapped at all, and have to be worked around. Four objectives — reach a score, clear the board, clear one color, reach a combo — and one to three stars for how well you did it. Some levels add an optional style goal on top: land a deep enough chain, or finish with supply to spare, and the level keeps a crown next to its stars. ZEN MODE No objective, no stars, no countdown, and an undo stack deep enough that you will not reach the end of it. A board that keeps refilling for as long as you feel like playing. BUILT FOR THE HARDWARE The whole game is drawn on the GPU by a custom Metal engine written for this one app — the jelly wobble, the refraction, the caustics, the bloom, the particles. It runs at 120fps on ProMotion iPhones and holds 60 elsewhere, and there is a quality setting if you would rather have the battery. Every sound is synthesized as it plays. There are no audio files in the app. Haptics are matched to what is happening on the board and come in three strengths, off included. MADE TO BE READ Co
