This resource has been created by the Jawoyn Association Aboriginal Corporation in collaboration with the WCC Language Program and supported through the Australian Government's Indigenous Languages and Arts program. All information will remain the property of the Jawoyn Association on behalf of the Jawoyn people. The Jawoyn dictionary is changing the way people learn language and connect with culture. Jawoyn Association Chair, Lisa Mumbin, says “Our stories and knowledge have been passed down for thousands of years but without our language culture can’t survive, we can’t survive. Our kids and their kids need to know Jawoyn to keep our people and our culture strong and healthy.” Browse the dictionary contents by letter, categories, and images. Search in Jawoyn and English. The app background features Bolung (the Rainbow Serpent) and comes from artwork by Alice Manakalorlo. Alice’s Bolung painting is also the basis of the Jawoyn Association’s logo.
