Store description excerpt
Аҧхьаҩ reads Abkhazian text from a photograph, from the Bagrat Shinkuba Foundation. Photograph a page of a book, a newspaper or a document. The app breaks it into blocks, recognises the text and hands it back in letters: copy it, hear it read aloud, correct it, save it. WHY IT EXISTS Almost everything written in Abkhazian over the past century exists only on paper. Until a text is typed, it cannot be searched, quoted, translated or read aloud. Аҧхьаҩ is a way to put those pages back into circulation. HONEST ABOUT QUALITY Recognising Abkhazian is hard: the language has letters of its own and there is little material for models to learn from. The app marks the places where it is unsure and lets you correct them. The result is a draft that saves you the typing, not a finished publication. WHAT HAPPENS TO YOUR PHOTOGRAPH The image goes to our server only to be turned into text, and is deleted the moment that finishes. It is not stored, not looked at by a person, and not used to train models. No account, no advertising, no trackers. Details at bagrat.fund/privacy.html Needs a connection: recognition runs on the foundation's servers. There is a daily request limit — the service runs on hardware the foundation pays for. ABOUT THE FOUNDATION The Bagrat Shinkuba Foundation carries the name of a poet, linguist and statesman who spent a lifetime proving that a small language can hold a whole world. UNESCO lists Abkhazian as vulnerable. We build digital tools that keep it spoken, read and heard. info@bagrat.fund
