Store description excerpt

Аӡыркәи is a course in the Abkhazian language for absolute beginners, from the Bagrat Shinkuba Foundation. It is built on the three books of the course «Аҧсшәа бзиа избоит сара»: ninety lessons laid out as a single road from the first letters to connected speech. Each lesson is short, a few minutes, and picks up where you left off. WHAT IS INSIDE The alphabet and its sounds. Words with pictures, voiced by native speakers. Words taken apart into their pieces. Review of whatever has started to fade. A word bank of everything you have collected, growing as you work through the course. FOR PEOPLE STARTING AT ZERO The course assumes no previous knowledge — it begins with the letters. The interface is in Abkhazian, because a language is learned inside itself rather than in translation; everything you need to understand is shown in a picture and spoken aloud. WORKS WITH NO CONNECTION After the first launch the whole course lives on your device. No account, no advertising, nothing to buy, no trackers. Your progress and the words you collect are stored only on the device: we gather no data about you and send none anywhere. ABOUT THE FOUNDATION The Bagrat Shinkuba Foundation carries the name of a poet, linguist and statesman who spent a lifetime proving that a small language can hold a whole world. UNESCO lists Abkhazian as vulnerable. We build digital tools that keep it spoken, read and heard. info@bagrat.fund
