“四面佛”(泰语发音“Phra Phrom)中的“佛”实际上并不是佛教中的“佛”，它其实是印度教中三大主神之一的“梵天”，又被称作是“命运之神”，创造宇宙之神，是梵文字母的创制者。华语称之为“佛”，但在泰语里多称为“神”（泰语发音“Thep”)。“没拜过四面佛，不算到过曼谷”这句流传的话，正说明了曼谷四面佛人气之旺。泰国四面佛信仰，呈现了不同于南亚印度教的许多特色。在现今南亚印度教中，三位主要神祇之一的梵天实不受广泛崇拜，反而是在东南亚泰国较为兴盛。虽说是起源于印度教的神祇，其建设与泰国的土地神信仰相关，随后发展更是与泰国社会的政治宗教等有所连结。 软件作者：LU SHU YE 、张智勇（Oliver）
