Abdul Basit Abdul Samad (1345 - 1409 AH), an Egyptian Quran reader and one of the prominent figures in this field. Sheikh Abdul Basit enjoys the greatest popularity in all parts of the world for the beauty of his voice and unique style. He was nicknamed "The Golden Throat" and "The Voice of Mecca". Memorizing the Noble Qur’an at the hands of Sheikh Muhammad Al-Amir, Sheikh of the book of his village. Taking readings at the hands of masterly Sheikh Mohammed Salim Hamadeh. He entered the Egyptian radio in 1951, and his first recitation was from Surat Fatir. He was appointed as a reciter for the Imam al-Shafi’i Mosque in 1952, and then for the Imam Hussein Mosque in 1958, succeeding Sheikh Mahmoud Ali al-Banna. He left for the radio a wealth of recordings, along with the recited and recited Qur’anic verses, and recitations of the Qur’an for Arab and Islamic countries.
