He was a prominent figure in Islamic religious reform in the eighth century AH. He was born in Damascus to Kurdish parents and studied under Ibn Taymiyyah al-Dimashqi, who was also of Kurdish parents and was influenced by him. His profession was as an imam at al-Jawziyya, teaching at al-Sadriya and other places, and issuing fatwas and writing.
