📖 The Book of Asceticism by Imam Ahmad ibn Hanbal 📖 By Ahmad ibn Muhammad ibn Hanbal ibn Hilal ibn Asad al-Shaybani Enjoy reading The Book of Asceticism by Imam Ahmad ibn Hanbal with this app, offline, and with many other features. The Book of Asceticism by Imam Ahmad ibn Hanbal (may God have mercy on him) is considered one of the greatest works written on the subject of spiritual refinement and purification. It is among the most important books that preserve the teachings and sayings of the righteous predecessors on asceticism, piety, fear of God Almighty, patience, sincerity, and detachment from worldly things. In this precious work, Imam Ahmad compiled extensive chapters of sermons, traditions, and accounts from the prophets, companions, followers, and imams. This reveals the depth of the early Muslims' approach to worship and conduct, and demonstrates the true nature of legitimate asceticism, built on adherence to the Sunnah, righteous deeds, and reverence, far removed from the paths of extremism and deviation. The value of this book lies in its transmission from Imam Abdullah ibn Ahmad, on the authority of his father. This is a reliable source that conveys an important aspect of Imam Ahmad's scholarly and educational legacy. Therefore, the book has remained a focus of attention for scholars and students of Islamic education and faith throughout the centuries. This book contains 2,368 authenticated hadiths, which the author has arranged under 58 chapters. He begins with the general virtue of asceticism, then proceeds to discuss the asceticism of the prophets, followed by the asceticism of the Companions, then the asceticism of the Successors, and so on until the end of the book. The material in the book includes hadiths with chains of transmission ranging from the Prophet (marfu') to the Companions (mawquf) to those with chains of transmission from the Companions (maqtu'). Some of these hadiths are of the highest degree of authenticity, while others are of lesser degree. It is worth noting that the printed portion of this book is not the complete text, as a significant portion has been lost over time. Author: Ahmad ibn Muhammad ibn Hanbal ibn Hilal ibn Asad al-Shaybani, Abu Abdullah, Imam of Ahlus Sunnah wal Jama'ah (the People of the Sunnah and the Community), and one of the four Imams of Islamic jurisprudence. He was born in Baghdad in 164 AH, and grew up with a love for knowledge and Hadith. He traveled to several countries in pursuit of it, eventually becoming one of the leading scholars of Hadith and jurisprudence in his time. He was known for his strong adherence to the Sunnah and his steadfastness during trials, particularly the controversy surrounding the doctrine of the createdness of the Quran. He endured persecution, imprisonment, and beatings without wavering in his convictions. He authored numerous works, the most famous of which is "Al-Musnad," in which he compiled a vast number of Prophetic traditions. He died in B
