Store description excerpt

The Metal Scanner is a radar app that uses only the magnetometer (magnetic sensor for compasses) of your smartphone to locate metal objects inside walls—screws, steel beams, stud screws, magnets, etc. After calibrating the device and placing the back of the device against the wall, it will indicate the magnitude of the magnetic field shift with a circular gauge, color, and vibration (similar to a Geiger counter). It's a passive scanner that reads only changes in the magnetic field, emitting neither radio waves nor X-rays. 【When to use it】 ・You want to mount shelves, a TV, or a clock on the wall, but you don't know the location of the studs or screws. ・It's tedious to repeatedly poke with thumbtacks or pins to find the studs. ・You don't want to buy a dedicated stud finder. ・You want to get a rough idea of the location inside the wall before drilling. 【How to use it in 3 steps】 1. Establish a reference point (calibration): Hold the device slightly away from the wall and adjust the current magnetic field to your reference point. 2. Move along the wall: Place the back of the device against the wall and move it slowly and parallel to the wall. 3. Find the area with the strongest reaction: There is metal behind the wall where the numerical value and vibration (sound in Pro) are strongest. [Main Features] * Magnetometer Radar: Displays deviation from the reference with a circular gauge and color (green → yellow → red) * Geiger Oscillator: Vibration feedback that gets faster the closer you get * Explanation of Mechanism: "How this app works" page with a diagram illustrating how magnetic field lines are distorted by metal * Sensitivity Adjustment (Pro): Adjusts to suit deep/weak metal or noisy walls * Geiger Oscillator (Pro): Sound that gets faster the closer you are, allowing you to find without looking at the screen * History Graph (Pro): Check the movement of the magnetic field as a waveform [Strengths and Weaknesses (We'll be honest)] It reacts to magnetic metals. * Strengths: Iron, screws, rebar, magnets, etc. * Weaknesses: Aluminum, copper, wooden subflooring, electrical wires, water pipes, etc. (They hardly disturb the magnetic field, so they don't react easily) Please use this only as a rough guide for DIY projects. This app does not guarantee detection accuracy. [Safety Precautions] Do not use this app for locating electrical wiring, gas pipes, or water pipes, or for avoiding them. For drilling or drilling operations, please consult with a professional and use appropriate methods in conjunction with checking blueprints. [Pricing] The radar, Geiger vibration, and mechanism explanations are free to use. Pro (one-time in-app purchase, no subscription) allows you to use sensitivity adjustment, Geiger sound, and history graphs. [Offline & Privacy] Magnetometer measurements are performed within the device, and measurement values are not transmitted externally. Internet connection is not required for measurement. Only anonymous usage and bug
