He was born in the city of Motobas in the Kafr El-Sheikh Governorate. He joined the Faculty of Sharia, Al-Azhar University, and graduated from it. Al-Dhahabi obtained an international degree, i.e. a doctorate, with the rank of professor in the sciences of the Qur’an, for his thesis on interpretation and commentators, which after its publication became one of the main references in the science of exegesis.
