A training picture book app for preschoolers and early elementary school children. The ability to empathize with others (role-taking ability) refers to the ability to put oneself in the shoes of others and gauge their thoughts and feelings. Role-taking ability has been shown to promote school adjustment, making it an extremely important ability that should be promoted in early childhood. However, training materials have not yet been developed. We developed the "Kokoro Ehon" picture book training app to facilitate easy training at home, childcare facilities, schools, etc. The "Kokoro Ehon" app is a picture book app designed to promote the development of the ability to empathize with others (role-taking ability) in preschoolers and early elementary school children (including those with developmental disabilities). Through training, we aim to promote the adjustment of children, including those with disabilities, and contribute to enriching kindergartens, daycare centers, and school life. Key Contents and Features of the Kokoro Picture Book - Includes eight training story tasks across "Part 1" and "Part 2." - Adults and children can think together about six questions following each story task to train their ability to empathize with others (role-taking ability). - Separate training worksheets (free) are available for download at https://kokoro-ehon.com/. - Audio-recorded story readings allow training even for children who cannot yet read. - In addition to the audio reading, tapping on the characters' lines plays their lines, making it easy to understand their emotions. - A progress bar (patent number: 6813196) synchronized with the audio reading allows children with developmental disabilities to focus while training. - Tapping on the background displays subtitles, making training suitable for children with hearing impairments. -It can also be applied to learning letters for children who cannot read, and Japanese language learning for foreign children.
