KIRAKU is a visual education app that lets you learn about the mechanisms of meteorology (atmosphere, weather, and climate) by "seeing" them. This is the 19th installment in a series that follows Math, Objects, Electricity, Waves, Heat, Stars, Light, Quantity, Flow, Confirmation, Geometry, Chemistry, Microorganisms, Brain, Machinery, Earth, Legacy, and Ocean. It allows you to learn nine areas, from high school earth science to introductory university meteorology, all at once with beautiful simulations and interactions. 【9 Functions】 ■ Atmospheric General Circulation Visualizes the Hadley-Ferrell-Polar tricellular circulation on a globe. The flow curved by the Coriolis force, and the trade winds, westerlies, and polar easterlies at the surface are animated with particle flows color-coded into six wind belts. ■ Vertical Structure of the Atmosphere Temperature and pressure profiles of the troposphere, stratosphere, mesosphere, and thermosphere. In addition to the US Standard Atmosphere curve, you can read the temperature and pressure at a location specified by the altitude cursor. ■ Cloud Formation: Adiabatic expansion and condensation due to the rising of moist air. Visualize the cloud formation process based on the difference between dry and moist adiabatic lapse rates, and learn about 10 cloud types, including cirrus, cumulus, and nimbostratus. ■ Extratropical Cyclones and Fronts: Display the development of warm fronts, cold fronts, and occluded fronts, which are created by the interplay of cold and warm air masses, and low-pressure systems in a three-dimensional cross-sectional view. ■ Typhoon Structure: Animate the "eye" and "wall" of tropical cyclones that develop above SST 26.5°C, and the counterclockwise vortex. You can also learn about categorization by maximum wind speed. ■ Precipitation Mechanism: Two pathways for the growth of cloud droplets into raindrops (warm rain: collision and merging; cold rain: Bergelon process). Visualize how temperature and updrafts differentiate rain, snow, sleet, and hail. ■ Weather Radar & Satellite Learn how to interpret radar echo intensity, Doppler wind speed, and visible/infrared satellite images, along with the meaning of the colors. ■ Jet Stream Experience the extreme weather caused by the meandering and blocking of the upper troposphere's westerlies and Rossby waves. ■ El Niño & La Niña Explain the ENSO cycle, where the warm water pool in the equatorial Pacific oscillates east to west.
