Store description excerpt
Augmented Reality Application for Archaeological Sites in Egypt The Augmented Reality (AR) application will enhance the experience of local and international visitors and tourists by providing a more valuable and exciting visitor experience. It aims to create a new communication channel with tourists by sending notifications about various events. Application Scope The application scope includes engine development and the creation of a mobile application for archaeological sites in Egypt. Creating an amazing visitor experience is a key component of the success of any tourist destination. Augmented reality plays a significant role in this success by enhancing real-world experiences using popular technologies that serve Egyptian heritage. The Ministry of Tourism and Antiquities develops applications using native programming technology, enabling the best user experience and high quality. Basic Scenarios and Functionality of the Application The application recognizes the user's location and enables navigation to the nearest archaeological site. The user begins the tour of the archaeological site through a specific route that highlights points of interest, with the ability to navigate between them using the site map. At any point within the archaeological site, a target item (image or object) can be scanned using a QR code or body pattern. The app tells the story of the site through an audio guide. The app contains a video explaining the features of the archaeological site. The user must be inside the archaeological site to use the navigation feature. When scanning the QR code of the artifacts, the app displays information and images using augmented reality technology (a maximum of 50 items per point along the route). The app sends detailed notifications about each part of the archaeological site. The app provides information to visitors about the services and facilities available at the archaeological site. It includes a notification system to inform users (tourists) about events and activities within the site and their locations. The app includes a search feature for known artifacts within the archaeological site. Some data is saved locally for offline operation. The app allows the creation of a visit itinerary containing up to 30 points within the site for easy navigation. It provides direct (real-time) directions to nearby archaeological sites and services such as hotels and restaurants, with the ability to view information about prices, museums, cafes, and other nearby services. Virtual tour of enclosed spaces using augmented reality: Allows the user to view the artifacts inside these spaces using their smartphone while simply standing in front of the door. Visitor Interaction: Social Media Integration. Visitor Ratings and Comments. Location Sharing. Favorite Ability. Additional Information Displayed by the App for Each Archaeological Site: An Introduction to the Site. Geographic Location. Ticket Price. Event Schedule.
