He was an imam at the private mosque of King Khalid bin Abdulaziz, and then the King appointed him as the imam of the Grand Mosque in Mecca. He passed away on Wednesday, the twelfth of Dhul-Qi'dah, 1426 AH (December 14, 2005 AD) due to a currency error.
