Store description excerpt

The app contains an Akathist to the Synaxis of the Saints of the Kiev Caves and a Canon to the Venerable Fathers of the Caves, who rest in the Far Caves. In the very center of Kyiv stands a large monastery—the Dormition Kiev-Pechersk Lavra. On the slopes of the Dnieper River lie beautiful churches, majestic buildings, beautiful gardens, and paths paved with ancient stone. But the very heart of the monastery lies... underground. It's not for nothing that it's called the Pechersk Monastery, which, in modern parlance, means "cave monastery." Below, beneath the high Dnieper hills, lies a labyrinth of narrow corridors (not even two people can pass each other). Here, in the caves, the Lavra's most important treasure is still kept. Along the walls throughout the underground labyrinth lie the relics (Relics are the bodies of righteous people who, after death, often remain incorrupt, that is, the same as they were in life. – Ed.) of Kyiv saints from the 9th to the 20th centuries. Almost all of them were associated with the Kyiv Pechersk Lavra during their lifetimes. Troparion, Tone 4 Fiery-colored pillar and light-bearing sun, / that shone upon the Mount of the Caves, / we bring the great Anthony with the entire assembly of God-bearing fathers / to You, O Christ, in prayer, / for whose sake we pray, / grant grace to our monastery // and great mercy to our souls. Troparion, Tone 2 When you descended into the tombs/ and enclosed yourselves,/ then, having mortified the passions of the flesh,/ you were buried with Christ, O God-bearing ones,/ and you destroyed the barriers of the devil in the underground places.// For this reason, the angels bestow crowns upon you from Heaven. Kontakion, tone 2 The face of the fasting gathering is wiser, / with mental eyes, / come, people, let us honor you with praises, / and, worshiping their relics, / we will bring gifts of love, / for these are to God intercessors // and prayer books for our souls. Prayer Oh, saints of Christ, our reverend fathers Anthony and Theodosius and all the saints of the Kiev-Pecherstia, bright lamps, who first shone with the holiness of the monastic life Russian land, patrons of the city of Kiev and our entire fatherland! We earnestly come to you, warm prayer-books and unashamed representatives, asking for consolation and help in our needs and sorrows. Help us, servants of God (names), our intercessors! Strengthen us in the holy faith, preserve the Church of God from destructive heresies and schisms, teach us to always fulfill the commandments of God and all the Church traditions commanded to us by the Fathers. Be gracious fathers and fervent intercessors for us, that we may glorify the name of the Life-giving Trinity, Father, Son, and Holy Spirit, forever. Amen. Greatness We magnify you, / our reverend fathers of Pecherstia, / and honor your holy memory, / for you pray for us / / Christ our God.
