Jesus Christ (Greek: Ἰησοῦς Χριστός) is the God-Man (Perfect God and at the same time Perfect Man), the Son of God, incarnate for the salvation of mankind, the Savior, the Messiah (Anointed One); the Second Hypostasis of the Holy Trinity. What does the name Jesus Christ mean? The name Jesus Christ carries profound meaning, serving as a unique, concise symbol of the Christian faith. Jesus is a name, the Greek form of the Hebrew word "Yeshua," meaning "God's help," or "Savior." Christ is a title, the Greek word for "Anointed One," which in Hebrew sounds like Mashiach—Messiah. In ancient Israel, kings, high priests, and prophets were called "anointed ones," because they were anointed for their ministry with a special, consecrated chrism. Through this sacred rite, God's blessing descended upon man. In His public ministry, Christ acted as King, High Priest, and Prophet. As King, He exercised power over the elements, cast out demons, and performed miracles and signs. As High Priest, He offered Himself as a sacrifice on the Cross, and as Prophet, He proclaimed God's will, denounced evil, and revealed the mysteries of the future. However, unlike the Old Testament anointed ones, Christ was anointed not with material oil, but directly by the Holy Spirit; in Him dwelt "the fullness of the Godhead bodily" (Colossians 2:9). Who is Jesus Christ? 1) Jesus Christ is the incarnate Son of God, one of the Persons of the Holy Trinity, God the Word. By His divine nature, the Son is born in eternity (beyond the conditions of time) from God the Father (by analogy: as the mind gives birth to words, light to radiance, and mist to dew). Fulfilling the will of the Father, the Son of God assumed human nature into His Hypostasis (Personality) (1 John 4:9). The assumption of human nature by God the Word occurred at the very moment of supernatural conception, in the womb of the Most Blessed Mary. At the same time, the flesh of Jesus Christ, animated by a rational soul, received its being. Thus, through the union of two natures, divine and human, in one Person, the Son of God, without ceasing to be God, became a Perfect Man, like us in all things, except for sin (Hebrews 4:15). The divine and human natures are united in the Hypostasis of Jesus Christ without merging, immutably, inseparably, and inseparably. This means that neither the Divine nor the human natures underwent the slightest change as a result of the union; they did not merge or form a new nature; they will never be separated. Since the Son of God is not only God but also Man, He possesses two wills: Divine and human. Moreover, His human will is in complete agreement with the Divine. 2) In His human nature, Jesus Christ is the Son of the Most Holy Theotokos, a descendant of the King and Prophet David.
