InvasivTracker is a tool produced within the framework of the European project ALIEM (Action to limit the risks of dissemination of Invasive Introduced Species in the Mediterranean), which aims to create a cross-border network for the prevention, anticipation and integrated management of risks related to the spread of invasive species threatening Mediterranean biodiversity. Led by the Office of the Environment of Corsica, ALIEM relies on a cross-border platform for the collection, exchange and analysis of data on exotic species of insects and plants, collected in the five regional territories. of the Interreg Italy-France Maritime Programme: Var and the Maritime Alps, Corsica, Tuscany, Liguria and Sardinia (http://www.aliem-network.eu). Of course, it is possible via InvasivTracker to also report invasive species present in other territories, so why focus on this geographical area? This is because the Mediterranean basin is particularly concerned by this problem, due to the richness of its biodiversity and the degree of threat that weighs on it. Fully included among the "hotspots" of biodiversity at the global level, it contains more than 25,000 species of plants and many more animal species, some of which are very localized or even endemic, for example Cyrno-Sardinian (present only in Corsica and Sardinia). However, this rich biodiversity is currently threatened by many phenomena, most often linked directly or indirectly to human activities. Among these threats, the impact of invasive alien species is today of growing concern and is still tending to grow. But to be able to propose actions to control these species, it is necessary to increase our knowledge, and in particular of their distribution. InvasivTracker will allow you to help in the fight against invasive alien species by contributing to their reporting: this simple, fun and informative application will train you in the recognition of the main invasive species of plants and insects, and will allow you to participate in the improving knowledge by becoming keen observers of your surroundings. If you wish, the application will tell you which managed sites are located nearby (Nature Reserves, Natura 2000 sites, etc.) so that you can participate in the inventory of invasive species present in these areas of high biodiversity. All species can of course be reported via InvasivTracker, but the ALIEM project focuses on priority species which are, for insects: the box tree moth (Cydalima perspectalis), the Argentine ant (Linepithema humile), the palm tree moth (Paysandisia archon), red palm weevil (Rhynchophorus ferrugineus) and Asian hornet (Vespa velutina), and for plants: mimosa (Acacia spp.), tree ragwort (Baccharis halimifolia), water hyacinth (Eichhornia crassipes), and exotic groundsels (Senecio spp.).
