Ilkley Cycling Club members are riding every day throughout the year. Riding in a group helps turn a good workout into a great social activity. The ICC Rides App makes it easy for members to post rides that they are planning. Even for those not ready to lead a ride, you can consult the Rides App to find a ride that suits your fitness and mood, and then join it so that the ride leader knows to expect you. What's a ride? It is a time and place for the ride to start. Most rides start in Ilkley, but not all of them. And most rides start in the morning, but there is no rule that says you can't have an evening ride or go out for a few hours in the afternoon. A ride usually has a fixed route. You can choose one from the Club Ride Library or create one yourself, posting the URL with the ride. Feel free to be creative. Stick to the road, venture onto the gravel, or go full off-road fat-tyre mountain biking. Rides also have a 'type' that makes it easy for members to find a ride that suits their ability. Road rides have categories that loosely match the speed of the group, from 'Training/A' rides though 'B' and 'C'. A ride can be in more than one category to bring in a larger group, or it can designate other characteristics of the ride, such as one for 'Women' or 'Youth'. A ride may not even take place outside. Listing a 'Virtual' ride is how to get people to join you on RGT, Zwift, or other online workout platform. A 'Segment' is a ride that covers a specific section of road, but can be ridden at any time in a specific timeframe, such as the popular Segment of the Week (SotW). Once you have specified the basics, the Rides App encourages you to add more details to help make it more attractive to potential riders, and to give them pointers so that it is a safe ride for all.
