Hublet Device Manager turns an Android tablet into a self-service lending device for libraries, hospitals, schools, hotels and other organisations that use the Hublet tablet lending solution. The app is the device-management client of that solution: it is installed while the tablet is being enrolled, becomes the device owner, connects the tablet to the organisation's Hublet Manager account, and controls what happens on the tablet before, during and after every loan. WHAT THE APP DOES • Enrolment and configuration — the tablet is registered to an organisation and site in Hublet Manager, and its settings, app selection, content and policies are delivered from there to the device. • Self-service lending — outside a loan the tablet shows a lending screen, where a visitor starts a loan with a PIN, a card number or another code, or simply by taking the tablet out of its docking station. • Loan launcher — during a loan the tablet shows only the apps, documents, links and content the organisation has selected, with search and the remaining loan time. • Automatic app installation — the apps approved by the organisation are installed silently from managed Google Play, so every tablet in the fleet offers the same, up-to-date set of apps. • Loan time handling — the borrower sees how much time is left, can extend the loan when the site allows it, and is guided to return the tablet when the time expires. • Clean tablet for the next user — when a loan ends, the app logs the borrower out and deletes the session's user account, files and app data. • Kiosk lock — while the tablet is waiting for the next borrower it is locked to the lending screen, and during a loan system settings and features are restricted according to the organisation's policy. • Admin mode — with an admin PIN, staff can release the lock to reach the Android settings, join a Wi-Fi network, reboot the tablet or factory reset it, and then return it to lending mode. • Fleet visibility — the app reports the tablet's state, battery level, network status and loan events to Hublet Manager, so staff can follow their tablets remotely. WHO IT IS FOR This app is meant only for tablets owned by organisations that subscribe to the Hublet tablet lending solution. It is not a consumer app: it is installed as part of Hublet device enrolment (through managed Google Play or a provisioning QR code) and needs Hublet Manager credentials and an organisation site to operate. On a personal device, installed outside enrolment, it has no useful function. DEVICE ADMINISTRATOR Hublet Device Manager uses the Android Device Administrator (device owner) APIs together with Google Enterprise Mobility Management (Google EMM). Device owner rights are required in order to lock the tablet to the lending experience, install the organisation's apps, create and remove the secondary user that each loan runs in, and wipe that user's data between loans. These rights are granted only while a company-owned device is being enrolled.
