Instead of breaking out a spreadsheet or doing the complex calculations on a paper napkin, use this app! In the "How Much Time" module the data rates are numeric. This is because actual transfer rates vary so much it is impractical to physical devices we are all familiar with such as "USB2, WiFi, 3G Cell, Firewire, Thunderbolt" as a data rate. You should use the reported transfer speed in your operating system or transfer application to set the actual transfer data rate. Your corporate gigabit ethernet may only copy at 10 MBytes per second in practical use for example. Your hotel network connection may upload at 1Mbit per second. Your firewall may be the limiting factor in your transfer speeds. Distance may be the limiting factor in transfer speeds (e.g. FTP). These numbers come from actual use cases. Your hotel may upload data at less than 1 Mbit / second. You may have much higher upload and download speeds on your phone as a mobile hotspot even indoors at your hotel, especially if you have 5G service and are close to an antenna. Either way, this app will tell you what to expect.
